Frequently Asked Questions

Q: “Do I get to change the content myself?”

A: Yes. You get a Content Management System (CMS) in this package, so you can make changes yourself.

But if you don’t want to get involved with it too much and would rather I made changes for you, that’s ok too.

Q: “What platform will my website be built on?”

A: WordPress! I think it’s the right choice for you for 6 reasons:

  1. It’s free (because it is Open Source software)
  2. It is used on millions of websites and is seen by tens of millions of people every day
  3. It has an easy to use Content Management System built it, that anybody can use
  4. There are over 1,000 free themes to choose from (that take 1 click to install)
  5. There are 10,000+ free plugins that will do just about anything you can think of
  6. WordPress used to be about blogging. Now it’s about websites (with blogs or without)

You can have a free WordPress website up and running in 5 minutes at: anything-you-like.wordpress.org.

That’s fine for a regular blog, but if you run a business, what you really need is WordPress running at your-domain.co.nz.

That’s where I can help.

Q: “Do you have a portfolio of websites to show me?”

A: Here is a list of websites I’ve built recently:

  1. RestaurantMarketing.co.nz
  2. AdventureEducation.co.nz – Tertiary Qualifications
  3. Silkn.co.nz – In-home Hair Removal
  4. BigFishGroup.co.nz
  5. Management.org.nz – Business Management Programme, NZ
  6. BikeMechanic.co.nz – Bike Mechanic Qualifications, NZ
  7. AffordableGates.co.nz – Gates, Fences & Balustrades, Tauranga
  8. BaldHills.co.nz – Winery, Otago
  9. TaurangaShuttles.co.nz – Airport Shuttles, Tauranga to Auckland
  10. WaihiBeachDirtTrackClub.co.nz
  11. LoveOneDaySales.co.nz
  12. ChickenCoops.co.nz
  13. Marketing First, Marketing Consultants, Tauranga [you're here!]
  14. SearchEngineGuide.co.nz
  15. Casa Del Mare Bed & Breakfast, Papamoa
  16. Spray Pump Services, Hamilton
  17. Avec Amour Wedding Planners, Tauranga
  18. NZHotPools.co.nz

Q: “I want a bigger website than those, maybe with ecommerce, can you still help?”

A: Yes. I know lot’s of other web designers in the Tauranga area that I can help you choose from.

Q: “$59/month for hosting is more expensive than elsewhere, can you do better?”

A: That’s because most web designers charge you just for hosting, whereas I provide you with the other services listed above which make your website better month to month.

I’ve found that clients who will get an invoice for $100+ per hour when they need changes would rather not make those changes. That’s madness! Every little improvement counts and nothing should stop you from improving your website incrementally. With my monthly package you just have to send me an email with the change, and it’s done.

If you want a web designer who cares about the success of your business and your website long-term, choose me.

If you want a web designer who builds your website and then walks away, leaving it to decay over time, then choose one of my competitors.

If you want your website to achieve the goals you set for it, and to provide you with a return on investment it takes more than just web hosting.

Q: “Hey, Sheldon, why do you list all the other web designers in Tauranga? Why do you list your competitors?”

Because I am very clear who my target customer is, it’s you!

If my skills match closely with your requirements, that’s great, let’s work together. Otherwise, there are plenty of others who can help you.

Competition is not only healthy for everyone, it’s essential, so we all get better and better at what we do.
